Glossier Balm Dotcom in Rose

Glossier Rose Balm Dotcom

As you may already know, Glossier is one of my favorite beauty brands. Their packaging and product marketing is top notch. I love that they’re constantly releasing new products, and this rose scented version of their Balm Dotcom is so good.

I’m personally a big fan of their original balm but little by little I am becoming more obsessed with products infused with roses. This rose version smells so delicate and fresh. The smell is almost sweet. I love it because it acts just like the regular balm, but the scent makes the product a lot cooler. Most of the time I use it on my lips (I love how long lasting it is!) but you can apply anywhere you feel needs some moisture. It doesn’t leave my lips shiny or sticky and in case you’re wondering it doesn’t leave a tint or color on your lips.

If you haven’t tried Glossier I highly recommend this balm, as well as the rest of the balm dotcom range. I think this is the best product from their entire line.

Bare Bottles: Products I’ve Finished No. 7

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Smooth Conditioner and Mario Badescu Facial Spray
Happy Sunday! Why does the weekend go by so fast?! I haven’t had a Bare Bottles post in a little while so below are reviews of two products that I recently finished. Keep reading for mini reviews:

This conditioner worked pretty good, but it does not compare to their original formula, the 3 Minute Miracle Moist Conditioner. I felt like the smooth version wasn’t too long lasting. When I use the moist version my hair remains soft for a lot longer. Aussie products are great because they’re inexpensive and I definitely recommend their 3 minute deep conditioners, but I would recommend the moist one instead. I did a first impression of this conditioner back in 2014, check it out!

Okay this product is an essential for me. I love using this after I cleanse my face and remove my makeup. Another way that I’ve been using it is by spritzing some on a sponge that I use to apply my BB cream or foundation. It makes my skin feel hydrated. This facial spray is infused with aloe, herbs, and rosewater. Plus is only $7! It doesn’t get much better than that. Click here to read a longer review of this mist.

Stay tuned for more mini reviews on products I’ve finished. Meanwhile, what beauty product have you just finished and can’t wait to repurchase? Let me know in the comments!

Stripes and Navy

Blazer: H&M | Tee: Zara | Jeans: Zara | Flats: J. Crew Factory

When dressing for the office I always add a blazer. A blazer can absolutely make a casual outfit feel and look a little more dressed up. I love black and white blazers, but right now I’m loving this navy one from H&M. I got it on sale last year and it’s great because it also keeps me warm. I think every woman should have a blazer in her closet; it really makes a difference.

Along with my navy blazer I’m also wearing a striped tee from Zara from their organic cotton line. This tee is so soft and after washing it it remained exactly the same. Yay! And one of my favorite office flats are these by J. Crew. They are super comfortable and I always get compliments when I wear them.

Are you as blazer obsessed as me? What’s your number one closet staple?

Ashley Graham x Formula X Nail Polish in Sexy As Hell

Ashley Graham Sexy As Hell Formula X

I am living for this red right now! I’ve been obsessed with Sephora’s limited edition Formula X #ColorCurators collabs, and this recent one with body activist and gorgeous woman Ashley Graham is no exception. Her three-piece polish set includes this stand-out red called appropriately enough, Sexy As Hell, along with an orange coral, and a berry plum.

I decided to go with the red. Red is such a classic color and I know that I’ll be wearing this polish no matter the season. The application for this polish was perfect. It has a great consistency and it was long-lasting. I’ve been pretty impressed with Formula X polishes and I’m currently loving their sleek yet colorful Instagram feed.

There was a past #ColorCurators collab that I never looked into with ballet fitness guru Mary Helen Bowers and luckily her polish range is still available at Sephora.com. I’m digging the Lilac Fairy and Satin Slippers colors. Decisions, decisions, decisions…

Bare Bottles: Products I’ve Finished No. 6

Happy Fri-Yay! What are your plans for the weekend? Here I have my latest Bare Bottles post where I give you mini reviews of a cleansing oil (my favorite!), a body lotion, and a face mist. Read about them below:

L’Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil
This cleansing oil is seriously the best, and my ultimate favorite. You apply it to a dry or wet face and the oil turns milky. This cleansing oil not only removes all of your makeup but it also leaves your skin super soft. Once I massage it all over my face I then use a cotton round to take off my makeup. I love to use this at night before I hit the sheets. If you have combo skin like me, don’t feel afraid to use a cleansing oil. I promise this one is super gentle and doesn’t cause any breakouts. I highly recommend this product!

Kai Body Lotion
I picked up this lotion after hearing some hype about it online. I wanted to see what the fuss was about. This lotion is made up of safflower seed oil, apricot kernel oil and cucumber fruit extract. For me the smell is a little hard to get use to at first, but after continuing to wear it I ended up liking the scent. It is definitely a unique scent that I haven’t smelled on any other lotion before. Kai products are also all sulfate, paraben, and phthalate free.

Glossier Rosewater Soothing Face Mist

You know about my fascination with face mists, right? I need to have one at all times. This one from Glossier was not a total home run for me. I will say that it is refreshing just how a face mist should be, but I did not like the smell of this rosewater spray. It has a chemical rose smell that reminds me of the nasal spray I use to combat my spring allergies (read about my first impression of it here). I’ve actually grown fond of rose scents and when I think of an authentic pure rose scent I immediately think of my Santa Maria Novella Acqua Di Rose. But to each their own: my sister ended loving this Glossier mist so much that she has been begging me to purchase it again for her.

TonyMoly Red Wine Face Mask Sheet

TonyMoly Red Wine Face Mask Sheet (Pore Care)

After having this pack of masks stored in my beauty stash for over five months, I knew this weekend was the perfect time to finally use them. This pore care red wine face mask from Korean brand TonyMoly was exactly what I needed to help my lately unusual problematic skin. I have no idea why (maybe lack of sleep) but my skin has been going haywire on me. Think dry skin, enlarged pores, and even a couple of breakouts which I hardly ever get.

This face mask which is jam-packed with different extracts including red wine, green tea, jasmine, and rosemary not only helps in minimizing the appearance of pores but it also hydrates and tightens the skin. This was my first time trying a sheet mask and I was pleasantly surprised. I imagined it to be a messy ordeal, but the mask fit my oval face perfectly and it was very easy to apply and to remove.

The mask itself is drenched in the serum containing all of the extracts mentioned above and it felt smooth on my skin. I never know how my skin is going to react with a face mask especially if I have to leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. I left this mask on for 25 minutes and there was no itchiness or burning involved. My skin felt comfortable throughout the entire time.

After gently removing the mask rinsing was not required. As per instructions, I massaged the leftover serum all over my face. My skin felt a little sticky and very cold. But I immediately saw that my skin was definitely more bright and hydrated. I’m not too sure about the minimizing of pores. I guess to see a change in pores you might have to do one of these masks more frequently.

I recommend this product to anyone who is a newbie to sheet masks. These are easy to use and deliver quick and great hydration to your skin. Plus when you buy them at Sephora (which I did) you’ll get two of the same mask in one pack. And let’s not forget the price. These are super inexpensive coming in at $7.50. If pores aren’t your problem area, TonyMoly offers several different masks that targets others areas. I’m already looking into the clear skin, brightening, and hydrating ones.

Bare Bottles: Products I’ve Finished No. 5

Hooray! The weather in New York is finally getting warmer. Warmer weather for me means less products to use but definitely more sun protection since we’re showing a little bit more skin. Here is this week’s Bare Bottles post.
This lotion was just okay for me. I would apply it after my shower, and although it felt moisturizing, the moisture was not long-lasting. However I do love the size of this bottle — it can last for months! Another thing I love about this lotion is that it is fragrance free. I sometimes dislike wearing  lotions with a fragrance because they can badly mix with my perfume. But if I had to choose another Aveeno lotion I would pick this one. I’m not sure what is the exact difference between the two, but for some reason I like the Daily Moisturizing one much better.

To make a long story short I had previously bought this face moisturizer but for combination/oily skin and it gave my skin a burning sensation. I exchanged it for this sensitive version and it worked great. It is rare that I get a reaction to a product so my guess is that the sunscreen ingredients were to blame for the burning feeling. I’m not sure which ingredient it was but from now on I stick to zinc oxide (a gentler form of sunscreen) just to be sure. I’m not sure if I’ll buy this moisturizer again. I’m currently eyeing this one from Honest Beauty, which has only zinc oxide and a higher SPF.

Magazine Beauty Sale: This Is What I Bought

Magazine Beauty Sale

Working at a magazine is hard work but it definitely comes with some perks. Beauty sales are one of those perks. Most magazines hold an annual beauty sale whenever the beauty closet gets too crazy with beauty products. A couple of weeks ago I went to my second magazine beauty sale and got some cool stuff.  Keep reading to see what I picked up:

Kora Organics Heart Chakra Essence
This is my first product from model Miranda Kerr’s beauty line Kora Organics. This is not something that I would typically be interested in picking up but let’s face it, was I  going to get it this cheap somewhere else? The essence is made up of certified organic oils like rose otto, sandalwood, jojoba, and ylang ylang. The smell is very strong but once you rub it on your pulse points you feel energized. I definitely want to try more products from this organic line.

Avene Cold Cream
Avene is definitely one of my favorite French brands. I’m obsessed with their Thermal Spring Water (you can see my post about it here), so I was excited to pick this baby up. This cold cream is beneficial in aiding dry, irritated skin. I wish I had this product during the beginning of winter. I have not used it yet because the weather here in New York has been getting a little warmer, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the weather drops again. If so I’ll use it and get back to you with a review.

Dr. Hauschka Soothing Mask
Dr. Hauschka is a brand that I want to keep trying out. I love that they only use natural but effective ingredients to help your skin. This mask helps sensitive skin by calming down redness with shea and coconut oils as well as anthyllis. After I removed this mask my skin felt so soft. There’s just something about this brand that makes it feel luxe. Whenever I use this brand I know I’m getting the best quality.

Sephora Sleeping Masks in Ginseng and Rose
Sephora masks are all the rage these days. These mini masks are applied to your face, neck, and around the eyes before going to bed and allowing them to work their magic overnight. Ginseng helps with toning and firming, and Rose helps to moisturize and brighten. I have yet to try these but I’m so excited to do so. During the sale these masks were just on top of the table untouched. Didn’t anyone spot them? I’m glad I grabbed them before anyone else.

Yes to Baby Naturals Fragrance Free Wipes
Okay so during a beauty sale you sometimes don’t think you just take. Case in point: these baby wipes. In my defense I really thought they were makeup remover wipes. I even kept using them a couple of times to take off my makeup without yet realizing what they were really for. These baby wipes are gentle — gentle enough that they didn’t irritate my skin when I used them on my face. These wipes are made up of apricot, banana, and carrot extracts to cleanse a baby’s skin.

100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream *Not Pictured
This coffee bean eye cream was one of the products I was really excited to pick up. It’s suppose to reduce the appearance of puffy eyes and dark circles. I’ve been using this product before applying my makeup and I must say that I have less puffiness around the eyes. But what I like the most about this is that it keeps my delicate eye area moisturized. As for dark circles I haven’t seen much of a change.
