I am living for this red right now! I’ve been obsessed with Sephora’s limited edition Formula X #ColorCurators collabs, and this recent one with body activist and gorgeous woman Ashley Graham is no exception. Her three-piece polish set includes this stand-out red called appropriately enough, Sexy As Hell, along with an orange coral, and a berry plum.
I decided to go with the red. Red is such a classic color and I know that I’ll be wearing this polish no matter the season. The application for this polish was perfect. It has a great consistency and it was long-lasting. I’ve been pretty impressed with Formula X polishes and I’m currently loving their sleek yet colorful Instagram feed.
There was a past #ColorCurators collab that I never looked into with ballet fitness guru Mary Helen Bowers and luckily her polish range is still available at Sephora.com. I’m digging the Lilac Fairy and Satin Slippers colors. Decisions, decisions, decisions…

After having this pack of masks stored in my beauty stash for over five months, I knew this weekend was the perfect time to finally use them. This pore care red wine face mask from Korean brand TonyMoly was exactly what I needed to help my lately unusual problematic skin. I have no idea why (maybe lack of sleep) but my skin has been going haywire on me. Think dry skin, enlarged pores, and even a couple of breakouts which I hardly ever get.
This face mask which is jam-packed with different extracts including red wine, green tea, jasmine, and rosemary not only helps in minimizing the appearance of pores but it also hydrates and tightens the skin. This was my first time trying a sheet mask and I was pleasantly surprised. I imagined it to be a messy ordeal, but the mask fit my oval face perfectly and it was very easy to apply and to remove.
The mask itself is drenched in the serum containing all of the extracts mentioned above and it felt smooth on my skin. I never know how my skin is going to react with a face mask especially if I have to leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. I left this mask on for 25 minutes and there was no itchiness or burning involved. My skin felt comfortable throughout the entire time.
After gently removing the mask rinsing was not required. As per instructions, I massaged the leftover serum all over my face. My skin felt a little sticky and very cold. But I immediately saw that my skin was definitely more bright and hydrated. I’m not too sure about the minimizing of pores. I guess to see a change in pores you might have to do one of these masks more frequently.
I recommend this product to anyone who is a newbie to sheet masks. These are easy to use and deliver quick and great hydration to your skin. Plus when you buy them at Sephora (which I did) you’ll get two of the same mask in one pack. And let’s not forget the price. These are super inexpensive coming in at $7.50. If pores aren’t your problem area, TonyMoly offers several different masks that targets others areas. I’m already looking into the clear skin, brightening, and hydrating ones.

Working at a magazine is hard work but it definitely comes with some perks. Beauty sales are one of those perks. Most magazines hold an annual beauty sale whenever the beauty closet gets too crazy with beauty products. A couple of weeks ago I went to my second magazine beauty sale and got some cool stuff. Keep reading to see what I picked up:
Kora Organics Heart Chakra Essence
This is my first product from model Miranda Kerr’s beauty line Kora Organics. This is not something that I would typically be interested in picking up but let’s face it, was I going to get it this cheap somewhere else? The essence is made up of certified organic oils like rose otto, sandalwood, jojoba, and ylang ylang. The smell is very strong but once you rub it on your pulse points you feel energized. I definitely want to try more products from this organic line.
Avene Cold Cream
Avene is definitely one of my favorite French brands. I’m obsessed with their Thermal Spring Water (you can see my post about it here), so I was excited to pick this baby up. This cold cream is beneficial in aiding dry, irritated skin. I wish I had this product during the beginning of winter. I have not used it yet because the weather here in New York has been getting a little warmer, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the weather drops again. If so I’ll use it and get back to you with a review.
Dr. Hauschka Soothing Mask
Dr. Hauschka is a brand that I want to keep trying out. I love that they only use natural but effective ingredients to help your skin. This mask helps sensitive skin by calming down redness with shea and coconut oils as well as anthyllis. After I removed this mask my skin felt so soft. There’s just something about this brand that makes it feel luxe. Whenever I use this brand I know I’m getting the best quality.
Sephora Sleeping Masks in Ginseng and Rose
Sephora masks are all the rage these days. These mini masks are applied to your face, neck, and around the eyes before going to bed and allowing them to work their magic overnight. Ginseng helps with toning and firming, and Rose helps to moisturize and brighten. I have yet to try these but I’m so excited to do so. During the sale these masks were just on top of the table untouched. Didn’t anyone spot them? I’m glad I grabbed them before anyone else.
Yes to Baby Naturals Fragrance Free Wipes
Okay so during a beauty sale you sometimes don’t think you just take. Case in point: these baby wipes. In my defense I really thought they were makeup remover wipes. I even kept using them a couple of times to take off my makeup without yet realizing what they were really for. These baby wipes are gentle — gentle enough that they didn’t irritate my skin when I used them on my face. These wipes are made up of apricot, banana, and carrot extracts to cleanse a baby’s skin.
100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream *Not Pictured
This coffee bean eye cream was one of the products I was really excited to pick up. It’s suppose to reduce the appearance of puffy eyes and dark circles. I’ve been using this product before applying my makeup and I must say that I have less puffiness around the eyes. But what I like the most about this is that it keeps my delicate eye area moisturized. As for dark circles I haven’t seen much of a change.

One thing is for sure in life: a nude mani never goes out of style. I love wearing all different kinds of colors on my nails but a classic neutral color is what I somehow always end up going back to. Fashion blogger Aimee Song from blog Song of Style
recently released her #ColorCurators three-piece nail polish collection with cruelty-free brand Formula X exclusively at Sephora
. The collection features the colors A Girl’s Best Friend
, a light pink, Mintfluencer
, a mint green, and Nude for You
, a beige nude.
I decided to purchase Nude for You because you can never go wrong with a nude color. Nude polishes can actually sometimes be difficult to shop for because not every shade looks flattering on every skin tone. It’s all about trial and error. This nude color in particular looked great on my medium skin tone and I think it can work well with other skin tones too.
This was my first time trying a Formula X polish and I was happy with the formula. The brush is great and the consistency of the polish was creamy while the application was clean. There were no streaks or bubbles. I added two coats of the polish to get this shade. What do you think?
Formula X has also released the Patrick Starr
edition of their #ColorCurators range and should be releasing more nail polish collaborations soon. I can’t wait to see what else is arriving at Sephora!

A couple of months ago I popped into my nearest Sephora to browse for any new products. I’ve been needing a face mask that will help me battle oil and shine. I asked one of Sephora’s employees for any suggestions and she recommended their Purifying and Mattifying Mud Mask. She was quick to mention that this Sephora product was new and had a 5 star customer rating. So of course I had to give it a try!
The mud mask comes in this super luxe jar and inside the mask itself is a dirty gray color. I was hesitant to apply it for fear of an allergic irritation but the Sephora employee assured me that it will be gentle on sensitive skin. The zinc and copper in the mask is used to remove impurities and unclog pores, while white clay gently softens skin.
The directions don’t specify whether to put on the mask on a dry or wet face so I went with a dry face, although I don’t think either way really matters. I carefully applied it all over my face and noticed the herbal-y smell of it. It smells like something I’ve definitely smelled before but can’t figure out what it is. Ugh. But I promise is not a bad smell. Once you apply the mud mask it is suppose to turn a a lighter white color meaning the mask is now dry. The directions don’t specify for how long to leave it on but I decided twenty minutes was good enough. When my twenty minutes were up I removed the mask, which was actually pretty easy to remove (yay!), and my skin felt so clean.
It definitely does what is says by leaving your skin matte. My face felt smooth, and just how I wanted it, with no oil in sight. I definitely recommend this mask to anyone who has oily skin and needs a way to get rid of any oil buildup. You can absolutely notice a change the first time you use it. This mask is gentle and won’t irritate your skin. But of course you should test try a patch just to make sure. This mud mask is also a dupe for one of GlamGlow‘s masks (I can’t remember which one the employee mentioned) without the obvious hefty price tag.

Nothing feels better than having a great skin day – that and a good shopping spree. Having glowing blemish-free skin is easier to have than you might think. I know we all have those days when we are just not feeling our best. We are humans nonetheless. But if you’re suffering from breakouts or feel that your skin needs a boost then count on the easy simple rules below. I follow these rules religiously and I know you probably heard them again and again but there’s a reason for that: they truly work. Try one or two or all of them and notice the difference.
Rules to follow:
1. Drink More Water: Do you think you drink enough water throughout the day? Think again. Water is incredibly important for our bodies. We need to stay hydrated constantly. Start your morning with a glass of water and continue to drink water throughout the day. Skip soft drinks and juices which can be loaded with way too much sugar. Upping your water intake guarantees more hydrated skin. This rule is beneficial for those who suffer from dry skin.
2. Wear Sunscreen
: As much as some of us dislike applying sunscreen it is crucial to do so. Always wear sunscreen before stepping outside. Look for a moisturizer/BB cream that already has SPF. Remember that you must still protect your skin even when it is a cloudy day. You’re supposed to wear sunscreen year-round to prevent sun/dark spots, wrinkles and ultimately skin cancer. What I Use
: My current moisturizer is Olay Complete All Day UV Moisturizer Sensitive Skin SPF 15
3. Cleanse Before Sleeping
: Nothing hurts skin the most than the sun and falling asleep without washing your face. Use a face wash or cleansing oil along with a cotton round to remove all of your makeup from the day. It just sounds completely icky to not clean your face before hitting your sheets. I’m super crazy about this one! Plus you don’t want makeup to transfer to your pillow or to wake up looking like a hot mess with makeup residue smeared all over your face. Trust me your skin will thank you for it.What I Use
: To remove makeup and cleanse my face I rely on L’occitane Shea Cleansing Oil
4. Indulge in a Face Mask: Once a week treat yourself to a face mask targeted towards your skin type or a skin problem you might have. For example I have oily skin so I use a face mask every Sunday (Sundays are my “me” days) that helps combat oil and leaves my face with a matte finish. So whether you have oily, dry, or sensitive skin or you are looking to minimize pores, or add more moisture, search for a mask that will help you with your specific need.
What I Use: Once a week I apply Sephora Collection Purifying and Mattifying Mud Mask and leave it on for 20 minutes.
5. Get Enough Sleep: Okay this rule is so hard for me to follow especially when I’m binge watching a new show. Try your best to get about 7 to 9 hours of sleep everyday. My schedule, like a lot of other people’s schedule, might vary day to day so I can be waking up super early one day and a little later another day. However I try to get enough sleep as much as I can. Sleeping not only relaxes your body and gets it ready to conquer the next day but it also prevents unflattering dark puffy circles underneath your eyes and renews your skin.
I really hope you follow these rules and notice a positive change in your skin. Let’s not forget that a healthy diet and regular exercise are also incredibly beneficial to your skin. But applying the above rules to your lifestyle can absolutely make a difference in how your skin looks.
Do you follow any of these rules? What rules do you swear by to achieve glowing skin? Let me know in the comments!
A couple of months ago I passed by my nearest Sephora to claim my birthday gift. If you are a Sephora Beauty Insider every year for your birthday the beauty store gives you a little sample treat as a gift. This year Sephora gifted me with two of the sample size versions of Nars’ Lip Pencils. Along with my purchase I also redeemed some of my points and scored a great mini fragrance.
Elizabeth and James Nirvana in White Mini Rollerball
This perfume smells strong when it’s applied but once it blends onto your skin it leaves you with a beautiful musk scent. The main notes on this fragrance are peony, muguet, and tender musk. The fragrance makes me feel sophisticated. Plus this is the perfect size to carry with you on the go. I also would like to try the black version of this fragrance which I took a whiff of at the store and it smells less musky and more sweet.
Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella
This lip pencil goes on smooth and the color is very vibrant. It’s such a deep red that I’m not entirely sure I can pull it off. I actually always go for rosy lipsticks so this color in particular was too much for me. Also this version is matte so the color stays put for quite some time. In addition, I’m not really a fan of matte lipsticks since they can sometimes feel dry.
Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien
I love this color! The rosy pink color is perfect for me; not too dark and not too light. I fell in love with this lip pencil and unlike the one above this version is satin so it feels super soft and smooth. I’ve actually been using this one so much lately and unfortunately the pencil is almost done. I’m definitely going to buy the full size version of it because now I can’t see myself without it.
